Monday, July 1st, 1872: EA's Best Player Named
It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Ed Peterson, the Philadelphia Red Stockings 24-year-old right fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for Eastern Association Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 15 hits in 32 at-bats, compiling a .469 average with 2 home runs and 13 RBIs.

This year Peterson has socked 111 hits in 352 at-bats for a .315 average with 3 home runs. He is getting on base at a .335 pace and his totals also include 61 RBIs and 80 runs scored.
Sunday, June 30th, 1872: 5-Hit Barrage by Haw
Quinn Haw really sizzled at the plate today. In a game played at Athletic Ballpark, the Albany center fielder blistered the Philadelphia Red Stockings for 5 hits in 6 at-bats to pace his club to a 14-9 victory.

"Haw was too tough to get out today," the Red Stockings skipper said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."

Q. Haw grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.

In the 1872 campaign Haw has hit at a .328 clip with 59 RBIs, 2 home runs and 80 runs scored.
Tuesday, June 25th, 1872: Zero Hits for Darley, Philadelphia Halts Hit Streak

In 74 games Darley is hitting .325 this season for the Blue Stockings with 114 hits, no home runs, 26 RBIs, 6 walks, .335 OBP and has scored 64 runs.
