| Breaking News | | Sunday, June 30th, 1872: Parrish Keeps Hit Streak Alive Cleveland's 25-year-old right fielder Harry Parrish has had a fine run at the plate over the last few weeks. His consecutive-game hitting streak has reached 25 games now. Today Parrish extended the streak by going 2-5 against Lords pitching. The streak has brought him a degree of attention that he has tried to deflect. Parrish always prefers to talk about his teammates' accomplishments rather than his own. After the Forest Citys 17-8 triumph over Baltimore at Ballpark of Cleveland he downplayed his part in the victory. H. Parrish grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.
This year Parrish is hitting .426 with no home runs. | | Monday, June 24th, 1872: Chicago's Tate Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits Nat Tate put on a hitting clinic today as the Sables dumped the Lords 17-12 at Sables Ballpark. The Chicago catcher sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Baltimore pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game.
He told BNN reporters after the game that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch."
N. Tate singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off G. Flanigan in the 8th.
Posting a .321 batting average to date, Tate has 1 home run and 58 RBIs. | | Saturday, June 22nd, 1872: Madrigal Goes on Rampage Against Lords It was high-5 day at Sables Ballpark, at least for Jim Madrigal of the Chicago Sables. He got a lot of high-5's from his teammates for his outstanding hitting against the Baltimore Lords. Madrigal smashed 5 hits in 6 at-bats on his record-setting day, leading his club to a 12-7 win.
His manager said, "Jim was hitting everything. It really was a special game for him."
In the other dugout the opposing manager told BNN beat writers, "He ambushed my boys today. Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but luckily, tomorrow is another day. Hopefully it will be our day to shine."
J. Madrigal singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.
Madrigal on the season is batting .298 with 2 home runs. His totals include 61 RBIs and 71 runs scored. He has played in 72 games. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | RF Jake Snively | torn back muscle | 5-6 months | 11 day(s) left (60-day DL) | | P John Goodman | strained bicep muscle | 5 days | Not on DL | | LF Tom Pollman | damaged meniscus (knee) | one week | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 34-49, .410 PCT | | Position in Division | 6th, 17.0 GB | | Record at home | 18-24, .429 PCT | | Record on the road | 16-25, .390 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 2-3, .400 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 8-9, .471 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 5-16, .238 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 29-33, .468 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record in April | 13-15, .464 PCT | | Record in May | 11-18, .379 PCT | | Record in June | 10-16, .385 PCT |
