Wednesday, October 18th, 1871: LaPointe Goes 5-6
It was a good day for the Blue Stockings at Ballpark of Cheyenne as they clipped the Michigan Panthers 16-0. It was tremendous day for Al LaPointe, who went on quite a hitting spree with a 5 for 6 barrage.

The New York catcher told reporters after his big 5-hit performance, "I don't have any buzz words. I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' as they say. As far as the hitting goes, I try to keep it simple. I try not to look into it too much. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then try to hit it. Today I picked up the spin very well."

A. LaPointe singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off S. Humble in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.

Thus far this year LaPointe is hitting .265 with 3 home runs, 75 RBIs and 111 runs scored.
Wednesday, October 18th, 1871: Holdridge Gets Shutout

Sunday, October 15th, 1871: Consecutive-Game Hit Streak Continues for Schmitz
The Chicago Sables suffered a 8-7 setback today at the hands of the Michigan Panthers at Sables Ballpark, but their hot-hitting right fielder Jack Schmitz went 3-for-4 and stretched his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games.

In 1871 Schmitz is hitting .320, batted in 109 runs with 4 home runs and 148 runs scored.
