| Breaking News |  | Monday, July 1st, 1872: Eastern Association Names Rookie of Month
Oscar Morvant earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Eastern Association for last month's performance. The boyish Buffalo right fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.
Morvant hit .283 with 1 home run, 11 RBIs and 25 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.
To date this season Morvant is hitting .310 with 2 home runs.

 | Tuesday, June 25th, 1872: Evans out for 6 Weeks
Tom Evans at first refused to leave today's Washington-Buffalo game after he suffered a strained tricep muscle while throwing a pitch. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I want to be on the field," the feisty Buffalo starting pitcher said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Evans out of action for 6 weeks.
In 22 starts this season, Evans has picked up 11 wins while suffering 6 losses. He has pitched 149.2 innings, allowed 167 hits, struck out 15 and posted a 2.04 ERA.

At the age of 27, Dick Coke might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Buffalo first baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the Eastern Association Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 13 hits in 26 at-bats, 1 home run and 5 RBIs last week in 6 games.
For 1872 Coke is batting .365 with 1 home run, 48 RBIs and 56 runs scored.
