| Breaking News | | Thursday, September 7th, 1876: Duval Blanks Omaha The Packers manager was philosophical after his team was shut out by the Sacramento Associates 1-0.
"It was just one of those games, shake it off and do better next time," he said.
Al Duval blanked them on 4 hits with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs. They were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Duval said.
"I set them up pretty good, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
His record this year is 31-17 in 49 starts and Duval has a 2.11 ERA. | | Wednesday, September 6th, 1876: Year Over for Associates Grundy The season is ending on a bad note for Bill Grundy, shortstop for the Sacramento Associates. It was announced today that he will miss the rest of the season because of injury. Grundy was hurt against the Omaha Packers while colliding with a player at a base. He suffered a fractured eye socket and will be out for at least 2-3 months.
In the 1876 season Grundy is hitting .257 with 2 home runs. | | Monday, September 4th, 1876: Romonosky Breezes to Shutout Victory Today at Junction City Park Oscar Romonosky really had his stuff working.
