| Breaking News | | Sunday, June 16th, 1872: Dusek 5-6 Against Lions It seemed that Ogden third baseman Jim Dusek could do no wrong as the Golden Spikes kayoed the Lions 19-4 today as he rapped out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. Louisville pitchers couldn't get him out as Dusek seemed to know which pitches they were throwing.
"I think the Golden Spikes were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Louisville fan.
"I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," exclaimed the jubilant Dusek in the postgame press interview.
J. Dusek flied out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
During the 1872 season Dusek has hit .429 with no home runs and 6 RBIs. He has played in 7 games and scored 10 times. | | Wednesday, June 12th, 1872: Ogden Second Baseman Hurt Ogden fans will be disappointed to learn that Harry Brower developed a fractured hand while making a defensive play in today's game. After the doctor informed the Ogden Golden Spikes manager that Brower was expected to miss 5 days, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the second baseman could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.
This season Brower is batting .325 with no home runs. His totals include 39 RBIs and 63 runs scored. | | Saturday, June 1st, 1872: | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | CF Tom Leming | ruptured Achilles tendon | 3 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | P Candy Kolodziej | torn rotator cuff muscle | 8 weeks | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 56-27, .675 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 26-12, .684 PCT | | Record on the road | 30-15, .667 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 15-10, .600 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 14-6, .700 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 42-21, .667 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 20-8, .714 PCT | | Record in May | 20-9, .690 PCT | | Record in June | 16-10, .615 PCT |
