Corpus Christi Hopeless Against Nichols
Sunday, July 30th, 1882: Speaking after the game, the Marshall manager said, "Henry Nichols had everything going for him. He changed speeds effectively, stayed down, had a lot of movement... he had it all... masterful."

Nichols held the Corpus Christi Padres to 6 hits and fashioned a fine 8-0 shutout. He had no walks and 2 strikeouts in the game.

"We couldn't get anything going. He certainly had our number," the Corpus Christi skipper told reporters.

Olson 5-6 Against Crickets
Tuesday, July 25th, 1882: During a player's career, there are days that stand out and this day was definitely special! Jim Olson went 5 for 6 against the Indianola Crickets at Crickets Ballpark and the Twins picked up a 17-1 victory.

"What a day!" he said. "We win and I get 5 hits! Couldn't be better!"

"He was patient up there today," the Texarkana skipper told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly agressive. Olson has a tendency to go after some bad balls sometimes."

J. Olson hit an RBI single in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.

For the season Olson is hitting .307, batted in 67 runs with 6 home runs and 62 runs scored.
