Included in his season stats were 124 hits, 23 doubles, 4 triples, 6 home runs, 56 runs scored and 51 RBIs. |  | Syracuse Ace Wins NYCML Pitcher of the Year Award Saturday, August 29th, 1885: He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Bill Rochford performed like a veteran on the hill for the Syracuse Corinthians and walked away with the New York Central Minor League Pitcher of the Year Award in the process.
The 24-year-old Corinthians star fashioned a 30-23 won-loss record in 1885 with a 1.76 ERA. In 491 innings of work and 59 starts, Rochford struck out 217 while giving up 474 hits and 100 walks. He held opposing batters to a .244 average. | | | | |
