Tuesday, August 15th, 1871: Vulcans Chill Coke's Hot Streak
The Bisons lost to Pittsburgh today by the score of 7-0 at Bisons Ballpark, but the bigger story was the end of a hit streak. Buffalo first baseman Dick Coke was working on a 25-game hitting streak, but went 0-for-4 against the Vulcans as the hot stretch came to an end.

Looking at his 1871 season stats, Coke has compiled a .387 batting average in 94 games with a .400 on-base percentage, while hitting 7 home runs and driving in 96 runs.
