George Morris went 5 for 7 against the Virginia City Comstock Kings at Cheyenne Grounds and the Hell-on-Wheels picked up a 23-6 victory.
He exclaimed, "What a day! We win and I get 5 hits! Couldn't be better!" The delighted catcher was really enjoying the happiness of the moment in the press room.
"He was patient up there today," the Cheyenne skipper told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly agressive. Morris has a tendency to go after some bad balls sometimes."
G. Morris grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, hit an RBI triple in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
In 70 games this season Morris has compiled a .259 batting average with 83 hits and 2 home runs. He has also scored 62 times and knocked in 48 runs. | |
