Transcontinental Baseball Association News Article | |  | Monday, June 24th, 1872: Chicago Third Baseman Picked EA Player of the Week So far in his young career, Cap Anson has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Eastern Association in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.
The 20-year-old Chicago Sables third baseman hit at a torrid .647 clip as he collected 11 hits in 17 at-bats, 1 home run, 6 RBIs and 8 runs scored.
This year Anson is batting .285 with 102 hits and 3 home runs. He has scored 82 times and has batted in 50 runs. | |
