 | Saturday, June 22nd, 1872: Madrigal Goes on Rampage Against Lords It was high-5 day at Sables Ballpark, at least for Jim Madrigal of the Chicago Sables. He got a lot of high-5's from his teammates for his outstanding hitting against the Baltimore Lords. Madrigal smashed 5 hits in 6 at-bats on his record-setting day, leading his club to a 12-7 win. His manager said, "Jim was hitting everything. It really was a special game for him." In the other dugout the opposing manager told BNN beat writers, "He ambushed my boys today. Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but luckily, tomorrow is another day. Hopefully it will be our day to shine." J. Madrigal singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th. Madrigal on the season is batting .298 with 2 home runs. His totals include 61 RBIs and 71 runs scored. He has played in 72 games. |
