Transcontinental Baseball Association News Article | | | Monday, June 17th, 1872: Virginia City's Sheppard WA's Hottest Hitter There's nothing like being in the prime of your baseball career -- and playing like it. Just ask Jim Sheppard, the Virginia City catcher, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the Western Association Player of the Week honors.
Sheppard piled up 14 hits in 27 at-bats, no home runs and 7 RBIs while hitting .519.
This year Sheppard has hit at a .315 pace and produced 53 RBIs, 2 home runs and scored 62 runs. | |
