Transcontinental Baseball Association News Article | | | Tuesday, June 11th, 1872: Boelter Slams 5 Hits for Boston The Pilgrims were defeated 7-5 today at Pilgrims Ballpark by the Blue Stockings, but you can't say Bill Boelter didn't give it his best try. The Pilgrims first baseman came to the plate 5 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Boelter and a tough day for Boston.
"I just go up there and swing away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan."
No plan or not, Boelter delivered today... 5-5 is outstanding in any league.
B. Boelter hit a two-run double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Currently Boelter has no home runs and a .311 batting average. | |
