Transcontinental Baseball Association News Article | |  | Tuesday, June 11th, 1872: Pyne Cracks 5 Hits Bill Pyne really sizzled at the plate in today's 8-7 win over Browns. The San Francisco second baseman blistered Saint Louis for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
"Pyne was too tough to get out today," the Browns skipper said in the postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
B. Pyne hit a solo-shot off J. Moulder in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
