Saturday, June 8th, 1872: Polly's Season Could be Over
The season is apparently over for Ed Polly. The Philadelphia Red Stockings medical staff informed the club that the right fielder will be out at least 7 months with a fractured knee. Polly was hurt in the game against Chicago while running the bases. The doctors did not think he would recover prior to the end of the season.

In 1872 Polly is batting .252 with no home runs.
