Saturday, June 8th, 1872: Mastin on Fire: 5-5 for Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh catcher Fred Mastin put on quite a show at Riders Ballpark with a big 5-hit day. But all for naught. The Vulcans were beaten 13-10 by the Baltimore Lords.

In the postgame interview he said, "The team didn't do too well today, but it was a good one for me, at least at the plate... 5-5... wish I could do this more often. It would do wonders for my batting average... and my salary, too. But I could do without the losing."

F. Mastin singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

To date this year Mastin is batting .246 with 1 home run.
