Transcontinental Baseball Association News Article | | | Tuesday, June 4th, 1872: Great Danes Pitching Ravaged by Coke 5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Dick Coke of the Buffalo Bisons. He tore up the Albany Great Danes to the tune of 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the Buffalo 16-9 win today at Bisons Ballpark.
"Coke was a tough out today," the Albany manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."
D. Coke singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off G. Harris in the 9th.
This year Coke has hit at a .368 pace and produced 46 RBIs, 1 home run and scored 51 runs. | |
