Friday, October 13th, 1871: 5-Hit Blitz by Zeber
Chicago second baseman George Zeber could do no wrong in today's 10-9 win over the Panthers as he collected 5 hits.

"In every one of his at-bats things were in his favor... he got hitter's counts," the skipper of the Panthers said to the press corps after the game.

Zeber agreed. "The key is getting ahead. Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit. You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."

G. Zeber singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.

In 1871 Zeber is hitting .324 with 210 hits, 6 home runs, 108 RBIs, .345 OBP and has scored 146 runs.
