| Breaking News | | Sunday, October 5th, 2008: Big Day with Bat: Strawberry 5-5 It doesn't happen very often, but it happened for Darryl Strawberry -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage at Shea Stadium and paced the Mets 1987 to a 10-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds 1972.
After his dynamite batting performance the New York right fielder told the press, "I just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid some great dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book.
D. Strawberry singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off P. Borbon in the 8th.
This season Strawberry is batting .267 with 88 hits, 13 home runs, 55 RBIs, .355 OBP and has scored 67 runs. | | Sunday, September 28th, 2008: 5-6 Day for Moore It wasn't poetic justice.
Terry Moore of the Cardinals 1942 had a terrific 5-hit game today, really socking it to the Cincinnati Reds 1972, but his team didn't win the game.
In the clubhouse after the 7-6 loss, he moaned to the press, "Hey, I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here. When you have a great game you should win the game, too."
And he definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 6 at-bats.
The manager for the Cardinals 1942 sympathized with his center fielder and told BNN reporters after the game, "Terry played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough to win... baseball is a team sport... it takes more than just one player to win a game."
T. Moore doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 11th.
So far this season Moore has hit .296 with 3 home runs, 39 RBIs and and scored 46 times. | | Friday, September 19th, 2008: Hooton Tosses Shutout for Los Angeles It was a razor-sharp performance by Burt Hooton of the Los Angeles Dodgers 1978 against the Cincinnati Reds 1972. He fashioned a fine 5-hitter in blanking them 4-0 and chalked up 5 strikeouts and 1 walk.
To date this year in 18 starts, Hooton has crafted a 9-6 mark with a 5.99 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 73-89, .451 PCT | | Position in Division | 6th, 20.0 GB | | Record at home | 42-39, .519 PCT | | Record on the road | 31-50, .383 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 12-7, .632 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 24-27, .471 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 25-33, .431 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 48-56, .462 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 12-9, .571 PCT | | Record in May | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in June | 13-13, .500 PCT | | Record in July | 9-15, .375 PCT | | Record in August | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in September | 6-22, .214 PCT | | Record in October | 1-4, .200 PCT |
