Breaking News Monday, October 2nd, 2017: Tracy Dominates HL, Wins Triple Crown Few men in baseball history have won the pitching triple crown. Peter Tracy of the Seibu Demons joined this elite company today when the season ended, officially making him the league leader in ERA, K's and wins. Tracy put up a 21-3 record, an ERA of 2.03 and 269 strikeouts this season. He started 33 times, walked 28 and held opposing clubs to a .191 average. Tracy is the odds-on favorite to capture the Steward Award this year. Sunday, October 1st, 2017: Melendez Wins September's Rookie Award In September, Seibu shortstop Alberto Melendez snared the Huff League Rookie of the Month award. In 27 games he hit .280, collecting 28 hits, 5 home runs, 17 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He also chalked up 10 walks and a .354 OBP. So far this season Melendez is hitting .279 with 23 home runs, 84 RBIs and 71 runs scored. He has 159 hits in 570 at-bats and a .344 OBP. Sunday, October 1st, 2017: HL Top Pitcher for September Picked Max Fernandez has made fans throughout Victory League take notice over the past month with an exceptional 4-0 record. No pitcher in the Huff League threw better in September, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today. In 6 starts Fernandez compiled a 2.76 ERA, putting up a 4-0 record, striking out 36 and tossing 45.2 innings. In 32 starts this season, Fernandez has picked up 15 wins while suffering 12 losses.
