| Breaking News | | Sunday, October 1st, 2017: Swaney Takes Home HL Top Batter Award Howard Swaney battered Huff League pitchers all September and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.
"I've been around Victory League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 33-year-old Swaney told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I may not take the field and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."
In 27 games, Swaney hit .356 with 5 home runs, 20 RBIs and scored 20 runs.
This season Swaney has 34 home runs and a .298 batting average. | | Monday, September 25th, 2017: Player of the Week: Atlanta Left Fielder There's nothing like being in the prime of your baseball career -- and playing like it. Just ask Lawrence Douglas, the Atlanta left fielder, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the Huff League Player of the Week honors.
Douglas piled up 9 hits in 21 at-bats, 3 home runs and 3 RBIs while hitting .429.
This season Douglas is batting .250 with 134 hits and 25 home runs. Swaney spoke to BNN after the game and said, "I knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later. I just would have preferred later."
When he made an out in his last chance at bat, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout.
The Blue Fog manager shrugged off the streak. "There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," he said. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here."
This year Swaney has 34 home runs and a .305 batting average. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | RF Anthony Snavely | fractured hand | 1-2 weeks | Not on DL | | P Danny Bell | bone chips (elbow) | 6 months | 4 day(s) left (60-day DL) | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 83-79, .512 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 4.0 GB | | Record at home | 46-35, .568 PCT | | Record on the road | 37-44, .457 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 7-9, .438 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 22-26, .458 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 18-19, .486 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 65-60, .520 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 14-11, .560 PCT | | Record in May | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in June | 13-13, .500 PCT | | Record in July | 10-16, .385 PCT | | Record in August | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in September | 15-12, .556 PCT | | Record in October | 1-0, 1.000 PCT |
