| Breaking News | | Monday, September 25th, 2017: Garden Selected Top Player A battle-tested Brett Garden declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 35-year-old Minnesota catcher collected the Jeffries League Player of the Week Award.
He wrapped up the week with a .464 average, 13 hits in 28 at-bats, 1 home run, 6 RBIs and 5 runs scored.
This year Garden has socked 93 hits in 326 at-bats for a .285 average with 6 home runs. He is getting on base at a .325 pace and his totals also include 30 RBIs and 33 runs scored. | | Monday, September 18th, 2017: Bushnell Befuddles Oslo Stephen Bushnell of the Minnesota North Stars was on fire against Oslo. He shut them down 10-0 on 6 hits and no runs with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Bushnell said. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that."
To date Bushnell is 4-2 in 8 starts with a 3.66 ERA and has 49 strikeouts in 46.2 innings. | | Friday, September 1st, 2017: 5-5 Day for Paz 5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Rafael Paz of the Minnesota North Stars. He tore up the Florida Chads to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the Minnesota 9-4 win today at Metropolitan Stadium.
"Paz was a tough out today," the Florida manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."
R. Paz doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off S. Runnels in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, tripled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
So far this year Paz is hitting .208 with 8 home runs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 76-86, .469 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 9.0 GB | | Record at home | 40-41, .494 PCT | | Record on the road | 36-45, .444 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 9-9, .500 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 25-20, .556 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 15-27, .357 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 61-59, .508 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 11-15, .423 PCT | | Record in May | 9-18, .333 PCT | | Record in June | 15-12, .556 PCT | | Record in July | 12-13, .480 PCT | | Record in August | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in September | 15-12, .556 PCT | | Record in October | 0-1, .000 PCT |
