| Breaking News | | Sunday, October 1st, 2017: September's Pitcher of the Month Goes to Miranda Esteban Miranda of the Chads pretty much bewildered opposing batters in September and was honored as the Jeffries League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.
The Florida starter sparkled last month with a 3-1 record and 2.01 ERA. He made 6 starts, tossed 44.2 innings and had 54 strikeouts.
In 38 starts this year Miranda has fashioned a 16-10 record and a 2.44 ERA. | | Friday, September 1st, 2017: 5-5 Day for Paz 5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Rafael Paz of the Minnesota North Stars. He tore up the Florida Chads to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the Minnesota 9-4 win today at Metropolitan Stadium.
"Paz was a tough out today," the Florida manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."
R. Paz doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off S. Runnels in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, tripled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
So far this year Paz is hitting .208 with 8 home runs. | | Friday, September 1st, 2017: Paz Collects Cycle Minnesota's Rafael Paz accomplished what few others have been able to do -- he hit for the cycle. In baseball, a player hits for the cycle when he hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game, though not necessarily in that order. Collecting the hits in that order is known as a "natural cycle."
For the day he finished 5-5 with 2 RBI and 4 runs scored and helped his North Stars knock off the Florida Chads 9-4 at Metropolitan Stadium. In the postgame press conference he said, "I didn't even know I had hit for the cycle until after the game."
R. Paz doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off S. Runnels in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, tripled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
This season Paz has hit at a .208 clip with 25 RBIs, 8 home runs and 44 runs scored. He has played in 68 games. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Cristian Ortiz | torn rotator cuff muscle | 6 months | 1 day(s) left | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 84-78, .519 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, 1.0 GB | | Record at home | 45-36, .556 PCT | | Record on the road | 39-42, .481 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 5-11, .313 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 22-21, .512 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 24-16, .600 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 60-62, .492 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record in April | 13-11, .542 PCT | | Record in May | 18-12, .600 PCT | | Record in June | 14-12, .538 PCT | | Record in July | 11-14, .440 PCT | | Record in August | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in September | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in October | 0-1, .000 PCT |
